Hi everyone! Thank you so much for finding interest in learning more about Pilates and diving deeper into the mind-body connection.
My name is Aika and I have been teaching Pilates for the past 10 years. It has been such a pleasure working with clients from various backgrounds, age groups, and abilities.
About AikaSana
To give you a little back story of where the name AikaSana comes from, I will need to take you on a journey to East Africa, specifically Tanzania. In the beautiful country of Tanzania, you can find one of the highest free-standing mountains in the world, Mount Kilimanjaro. Down these slopes lies a village known as Mwika where the Chaga tribe resides and where my parents were born and raised.
‘Aika sana’ translates to ‘Thank you very much’ in the Chaga language and with this meaning, I hope to provide you with multiple opportunities to give thanks to your body and mind every day.
Meet Aika Kitilya
I hold a Double Master’s in Public Health and Behavioral Health Science from the University of San Francisco, where I came to understand how common health disparities arise from a lack of access. Whether it’s limited healthcare, high-quality food, green spaces, or opportunities for movement, these barriers are all too real for many people. My journey into the Pilates community started unexpectedly while I was studying at Riverside Community College in Southern California (shout out to RCC!). I quickly learned that Pilates can be quite pricey, creating a barrier for many, especially in my BIPOC community. During my Master’s program, I felt a strong urge to bridge this gap because I’ve seen just how transformative Pilates can be for overall health and well-being. I’m passionate about making it more accessible so that everyone can experience its benefits.
In each session, my goal is to create a welcoming space where we can explore your unique relationship with your body. It’s a place for healing and a chance to truly relax and reconnect with yourself. I believe that movement has the power to transform our lives, and at AikaSana Pilates, we celebrate our ability to move, breathe, and play. Together, we’ll embrace this journey and cultivate gratitude for what our bodies can do.
Check out my services and book a session.
I am so excited to meet you!
